Formal certification remains available on request at a per-document fee.
Terminology and translation memory management. For ongoing programs and catalogue-scale work, I build and maintain the linguistic assets that make recurring translation predictable: project glossaries, terminology databases, and translation memories that accumulate across deliveries. These assets belong to you and travel with your content.
Direct communication. You work with the person who does the translation. The same person reviews the file, asks the clarifying questions, makes the terminology decisions, and certifies the result. There is no project manager between you and the work.
Scope discussion before quote. I review a representative sample of the content before quoting, so the rate reflects the actual nature of the work rather than a generic per-word figure. For ongoing programs, this usually takes the form of a short conversation about your documentation cycle, your file formats, and your internal validation workflow.
Realistic timelines. I deliver standard documents of 2,000 to 4,000 words within three to five business days from confirmation. Larger projects are scheduled in batches aligned with your release cadence. Rush turnaround is available when feasible, priced accordingly.
Confidentiality. Your content stays in a controlled environment. I do not run client material through public machine translation engines. Non-disclosure agreements are signed without resistance and respected without exception.
For businesses with extensive product catalogues, recurring documentation cycles, or multilingual compliance obligations, I find that isolated per-document translation is rarely the right economic model. The realistic approach is to treat your translated content as a set of linguistic assets that accumulate value over time.
Linguistic assets. Once a body of content has been translated, every subsequent document that shares phrasing with the existing corpus draws on the memory rather than being retranslated. For technical content with recurring sections — safety information, standard warnings, maintenance procedures, regulatory boilerplate — repetition rates can be substantial, often in the range of 40 to 70 percent depending on the consistency of your source documentation, and sometimes higher for closely related product variants. A maintained glossary, built alongside the translation memory, ensures that the same component, procedure, or regulatory term is translated the same way across every document, every product family, and every release cycle. This is not just a quality concern; it is a compliance concern in regulated industries, and a brand consistency concern in product documentation.
Pilot-based pricing for new programs. For a new catalogue-scale engagement, I typically suggest a pilot batch of representative documents drawn from different product families. The pilot establishes the translation memory and the glossary, and produces real per-document economics for the rest of the catalogue. After the pilot, pricing for the remaining volume is based on observed repetition rates rather than extrapolation. This protects both of us: you budget on real data, and I commit to volume on a basis I can deliver.
Assets that belong to you. The translation memory and the glossary built during our work are yours. They can be exported in standard formats and used by another translator or another agency in the future. The work I do is meant to create durable value for your organization, not to lock you into a dependency.
